Santa Paws 2.0: Photo event for pets set for Dec. 13
Did you miss out on pictures with Santa?! Don't worry...Santa Paws is returning Sunday, December 13!

Johnson Strings to perform Christmas concert at Oak Grove Church, Dec. 6
Oak Grove Church is excited to host the Johnson Strings for a Christmas musical tribute this Sunday, Dec. 6. The public is welcome. There will be a soup supper beginning at 5 pm, with the concert starting at 6:15. There will be a free will offering.

Farmers Bank Open House set for Dec. 4
Farmers Savings Bank & Trust-Vinton will hold its annual Holiday Open House on Friday, Dec. 4. Santa will be on hand at 3:30 p.m. to visit with children. Throughout the day there will be refreshments, and a chance to sign up to win one of 5 $20 VU Bucks prizes. Members of area churches will also be able to sign up for a $2 donation to the church of their choice.

VS holiday concert set for Dec. 7
On Monday, Dec. 7, at 7 pm in the High School auditorium the middle school and high school choirs will be presenting their Holiday Concert. Tickets are $5 at the door. Come ready to hear some wonderful seasonal music from all around the globe, as well as some traditional holiday standards! Performing groups are (in order of performance): 7th Grade Mixed Choir, 8th Grade Mixed Choir, Treble Choir, Chamber Choir and Concert Choir.

Pearl Harbor ceremony set for Monday, Dec. 7, at VSMS
As it is each year at Vinton-Shellsburg Middle School, Pearl Harbor Day will be observed Monday, 7 December 2015, from 12:15-1pm at VSMS LMC. This year's theme will be the 100th anniversary of the launching of the USS Arizona and the death of Joseph Langdell back in February. He was the last surviving officer of the Arizona.
Eighth grade teacher Alex Vasquez and his students will lead the tribute to those who died on Dec.
3rd Annual 9-Pin Family and Friends Community Tournament
Come and join the Vinton Shellsburg Bowling Team for some great fun while we raise money for our 3rd season!
The fun will be at Berry's Lanes on Saturday November 21 at both 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. (pick one time)
There will be awards given to the top 3 scores and Best Effort in each Division... 18 and up, 11-17, 10 and under.
There will be a bake sale with donated items for purchase as well as a silent auction for a bowling quilt, and other miscellaneous items to help raise money for the team jerseys.
Lighted Patriotic Christmas Parade set for Nov. 19
The Veteran’s Lighted PATRIOTIC Christmas Parade, will take place again this year in Vinton, just before the first arrival of Santa for the holiday season. Line up begins at 5:30 p.m.Thursday Evening, Nov. 19, east and south of the Methodist Church, on 6th Street and Second Avenue. The parade begins at 6. The VFW, American Legion and AMVETS organizations of Vinton are sponsoring the event.
Chili Supper to raise Honor Flight Funds Nov. 19th 4:30-7:30
There will be a Chili Supper to raise funds to send our Veterans to Washington D.C. on the tour of a lifetime for most of them.
The supper will be on Thursday, November 19th from 4:30-7:30 at the Vinton Fire Station.
The meal will be served by the Vinton Lions Club the cost is a Freewill Donation.
